SUSTAINABILITY AND CSR

Every day Lemon and Lime are making a conscious effort to act sustainably and make sustainable choices.

Everyday Lemon and Lime are making a conscious effort to act sustainably and make sustainable choices. Since the beginning of the business our drive has been to be at the forefront of the staging industry, leading the way for other industry professionals. This ethos applies to our sustainability and CSR actions too. We believe that where we can make a positive change on the environment, we will. As the Lemon and Lime team grows, we continue to drive this goal. We have already made changes across the whole business, but there is always more to be done.

REFORESTATION

The reforestation of trees is one of the biggest actions taken in tackling climate change. That’s why as a business we have pledged to plant a tree every time we stage a property. Through Tree-nation.com we have chosen to plant trees in the Upper Imenti Forest, in a region close to Africa’s second highest mountain, Mount Kenya which has been deforested and degraded over many years.  Not only does our donation contribute to reforestation and offset of C02, but it also supports employment in the local area.

RECYCLE

Since the beginning of the business, we have worked with our local waste recycling service to ensure all of our cardboard and packaging is recycled correctly at our warehouse. At our office we actively recycle coffee pods, ink cartridges, packaging, glass and plastic. When suppliers deliver items in packaging, we make use of the bubble wrap and packaging in our decluttering jobs.

RENEW & REUSE

We are conscious that 9 million tonnes of furniture goes to landfills every year. We continuously upcycle and refresh furniture pieces where possible to give them a new lease of life. When furniture becomes old or outdated we send this to our local charity shop to be recycled. The concept of home staging is actively reusing furniture over and over again which in itself is preventing home sellers from unnecessarily purchasing furniture for one time use.

REDUCING

LED light bulbs use considerably less energy than halogen bulbs, 85% to be exact. This means less demand on our energy grid and ultimately less stress on natural resources. Not only are they low maintenance due to lasting a long time, they are also more cost effective too. Lemon and Lime made the change in 2020 and replaced all existing light bulbs.

RETHINKING

When it comes to choosing trade suppliers, we try to work with stockists who share similar sustainable values to us. We are proud to work with Coach House and admire their positive force for change, see their ‘Going Green’ initiatives here. When recommending Hypnos beds to our clients we note their dedication to sustainable and ethical bed making, see their page here. Our team are conscious about shopping locally. We’ll often use local coffee shops for meetings and support local shops when we can.

SUPPORTING SAILABILITY

As a business we are proud to support Sailability, which is a national programme enabling people with disabilities to take part in sailing. Our donation each year is used to support families who otherwise wouldn’t be able to attend and reap the benefits of taking part.

Sailing is one of the very few sports which can be done with able-bodied and disabled family members altogether. The positive impact on the physical and mental health of the individuals and the families is huge. It’s a cause very close to Elaine’s heart so we are delighted to continue to support this great cause.
