We usually end our year reflecting on the clients we have met, the work we have achieved and the fun we have had along the way. This year it’s definitely been a little different and more challenging with COVID-19 impacting operations across the globe. Fortunately, we have continued to support our clients with the preparation for their house sales and moving into their new homes smoothly and successfully with the correct processes in place.
We wanted to share with you some of the highs from 2020 and give you a hint of what’s in store for 2021!
The lockdown and the closure of the housing market in the early part of the year felt hugely difficult for us, as for many other businesses, but we were fortunate to have several projects on the ‘to-do-when-we-have-time’ list which suddenly jumped to the top.
In April, during the lockdown, we started online delivery of the Home Staging Business Course with Paloma at the Home Staging Association. Elaine is the senior advisor to the HSA for coaching and professional development and this course was originally planned as a series of training days to be run in late summer. With so many people suddenly waiting for the housing market to re-open it seemed an ideal time to launch remotely and we had lots of motivated stagers joining us eager to learn. The course will allow them to understand more clearly the ins and outs of upscaling their staging business and bring more credibility to staging as a property marketing tool. We have continued, throughout the year, to be instrumental in the creation of accredited learning programmes alongside the HSA to professionalise home staging as an industry.
Once the housing market was allowed to operate again in May we were crazy busy. It seemed that the few weeks at home had encouraged everyone in the world to want to move! We became experts on how to re-imagine every home with at least two home offices, a gym and a school room for the kids. We had some notable success stories including achieving an immediate and acceptable offer following the furnishing of a property which had been on the market empty for nearly five years.
One of our USPs as a business is that we have collected data about the return on investment of staging from the outset. Until recently the reporting of this has been done via long-winded analysis of our spreadsheets. In August we launched our data insights app, Stageflow. This worldwide app, the first to evidence ROI on staging for home owners, stagers and estate agents, has quickly became popular across the globe with users signing up from as far afield as South Africa, USA and Germany.

Elaine finished the writing and editing of her book ‘Sell High, Sell Fast – how to sell your home for the best possible price in the quickest possible time’. It was published in October and immediately shot to number 1 on the Amazon best seller list for property books! We were overwhelmed by its response and agents quickly wanted to get their hands on a copy to share the tips and tricks of achieving great sales with their own vendors. It is available via Amazon in Kindle and paperback format or via our website . Click here to purchase.
Since the book launch Elaine has been invited onto many forums and podcasts. She was a guest speaker and panellist at the Home Staging Association Forum joining Sanja Radovanovic, Martyn Baum and Paloma Harrington-Griffin to discuss the current successes and challenges of real estate marketing and the relevance of home staging.
We have been quoted as industry experts in many national publications this year including The Sunday Times, Estate Agent Today, Real Homes Magazine, House Beautiful, The Sun and the Daily Express. We even had a double page feature in the property section of The Times in October. The concept of home staging is gradually becoming mainstream and we are proud of the part we are playing to raise awareness for vendors and estate agents alike.
In December we staged the impressive 6 bedroom former home of singer-songwriter Roy Wood where he wrote ‘I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday’! It was great timing just before Christmas!
Over the Christmas break we launched our Sell High, Sell Fast Scorecard via our website. The scorecard is a short questionnaire, offering a fantastic opportunity for vendors to get an indication of how sellable their property is in its current state. The answers to the questions generate a 13 page individualised report to equip sellers with tips to improve the look of their property ready to increase their chances of a successful sale. Here is a look back at just a few of the amazing properties we have decorated, decluttered, staged and transformed during 2020.
Our plans for 2021 so far include not one but two new starters joining us in January which we are extremely excited about. We have also taken on more warehouse space for our ever-growing furniture collection.
Coming soon will be more details of our other plans including the much-requested launch of Sell High, Sell Fast as an audiobook and much expanded national coverage of our brand so you can access our full range of services wherever you live.
We hope you have had a fantastic Christmas and we look forward to seeing you in the new year!
