This month, we’re thrilled to chat with Lynne Kelly, the visionary founder and director of Lynne Kelly Curtains Ltd. Lynne’s company specialises in crafting beautiful, bespoke window treatments – from made-to-measure curtains to meticulously hand-sewn blinds and soft furnishings. Whether you’re a trade professional or decorating your own home, Lynne Kelly Curtains offers a stunning selection to suit any style and budget.

We asked her 8 questions to obtain further insight into the person who is passionate about fabric.

1. Can you tell us about your business and what sets it apart from others in the industry?

We are a family run business and we pride ourselves in our quality and after sales service. We will go above and beyond to meet our client’s expectations. We work with the client from initial consultation to the finished product. All our soft furnishings are made in our own workroom in Melbourne, Derbyshire, by our very experienced soft furnishers. We do not outsource our work. Our attention to detail is second to none. We do not settle for second best.

2. Have you ever noticed anything particularly memorable or impressive while house hunting or attending open houses?

I love to see older houses keep as much of the original architecture as possible while adding that modern twist. I have seen this a few times while visiting potential clients. Old and new can work really well if done sympathetically.

3. Which famous person (dead or alive) would you invite to a dinner party and why?

Michael Bublé. I have seen him live in concert and love the way he interacts with his audience. He does not put himself above his fans, to him they are all equals and I love this about him. I follow him on Instagram and he is always with his fans, and his family which he shares openly. I just love his energy.

4. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

I have lived abroad and its not what its cracked up to be. There is no place like home. But if I could live anywhere in the UK it would be Weymouth in Dorset. This has been the home of many great family holidays for the last 30 years and it never fails to disappoint.

5. What’s one talent or skill you’ve always wanted to learn?

I love upcycled furniture so would love to learn how to do this properly.

6. What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?

For me, who is scared of heights, I would say its paragliding. It was an amazing experience.

7. What’s something you hope to accomplish on your bucket list someday?

I would love to go to India. Apart from the fact its my favourite food, I just think it would be an amazing experience. Also Australia but the long flight time I find a bit daunting.

8. What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?

Follow your dreams you can achieve anything if you really want it. I followed this advice and that is why I’m where I am today.
